The Inter Commune/Sangkat Cooperation Project is a part of three components of the project for strengthening local good governance through Project to Support Democratic Development through Decentralization and De-concentration funded by EC/UNDP through the Ministry of Interior.
The purposes of this project are to:
1 Encourage initiative and create ownership in looking for a joint partnership for joining development project through establishment of Inter Commune/Sangkat Cooperation Project.
2 Strengthen coverage of ICC Project with a view to determining priority of relevant project to conduct joint development for involved Sangkats.
3 Encourage institutions, entities and sub-national structures which are responsible for management, coordination and solving common issue for ICC Project.
The ICC project implemented four infrastructure projects in 2008 and targeted in three Khans, including Khan Chamkar Mon, Mean Chey and Ruessei Kaev. For these projects, there were three concrete road projects and one computer training building with two rooms.
In 2009, there are three infrastructure projects and one service project to be implemented in the above three targeted Khans in the capital of Phnom Penh. Among four projects, two infrastructure projects were already bid in the middle of February 2009. These projects will be carried out in this 2009 as follows:
1. Khan Chamkar Mon
- Construct a co-study building with a size of 190m² in Toul Svay Prey High School in Sangkat Toul Svay Prey II (continues construction on the top of a computer building that carried out in 2008). This project will be conducted procurement later this year.
2. Khan Mean Chey
- Construct bamboo concrete road with 513m length and 5m width, which is located in Phum Ta Ngov and Phum Chroy Bak Sagkat Nirouth and Preaek Pra. Based on the result of the bidding process, Lun Eangly Company was granted to construct this road with a total cost of $26,326.20.
- Install billboards of 10 pieces along Boeng Tumpun canal, which is located in Sangkat Beong Tum Pun and Streung Mean Chey. This project will be organized procurement later of this year.
3. Khan Ruessei Kaev
- Construct concrete road that has 520m length and 5m width, which is located in Chrang Chamres Muoy and Chrang Chamreh Pir. Based on the result of the bidding process, Sam Sivorn Company was granted to construct this road with a total cost of $23,406.10.
